ECDYSIS
Statement: Ecdysis marks the debut collaboration between Haitian-Canadian singer and composer Faebi Axis and Belgian-Spanish sound artist Sanea Ima. Across eight tracks, the duo explores transformation through sound – a shedding of form and texture inspired by the process of molting. The record fuses raw vocal material, electroacoustic processes, and sculpted distortion into an immersive continuum of tension and release.
PanM360 Review : 'Ecdysis (...) speaks of patience, perseverance, and silent resistance. From the opening track, the intertwining of voices acts as a warning, a preparatory ritual: it seems to attune us to the internal frequencies, the cerebral pulsations, and the soundscapes that will follow. Like in a film where the setting is established before the drama, sound becomes substance, texture, mental space. (...) The production plays with levels of intensity; there are gusts, contradictory directions, an unpredictability reminiscent of winter gales, a wind that disorients yet sculpts everything in its path. The listening experience becomes almost cinematic. (...) A battle begins, but a solemn, internal one. Not a spectacular confrontation, but rather a moment where one must remain upright, serious, determined, maintaining the posture until the very end of the action, until the very end of its meaning.
